If I Had A Cent
Words and Music by Christopher White
If
I had a cent, for each hour I spent,
Filling
my head with you,
I
could buy a new chopper,
And
have enough copper,
To
make the sea orange, not blue.
If
I had a dime, for each moment in time,
That
I used up to dream of your face,
I
could host a huge dinner,
For
all the world’s sinners,
And
hire Jesus himself to say grace.
If
I had a cent,
Maybe
I’d pay the rent.
But
I’d probably just sit on the floor,
And
think about you some more.
If
I had a dollar, for each empty holler,
I
threw to the moon in despair,
I
could buy the whole planet, but still not command it,
If
darling, you too, were not there.
If
I had you here,
I
wouldn’t need money for cheer,
And
the time that I spent putting you in my head,
Would
put you in my arms instead.
