We went
for a walk by the shore,
She had
become a bore.
I let her
slip, but I kept my grip,
As the
bubbles escaped from her lips,
And the
struggle from her fingertips.
My work
by then was done,
And the
tide pulled her off by the set of the sun.
I now was
free of her power over me,
And she
for now was gone,
Forever,
for now, beyond.
My Bonny
lies under the ocean!
My Bonny
lies under the sea!
My Bonny
lies under the ocean!
I drowned
her when she bothered me!
Now that
my mind has settled,
Her body
has probably too.
I wonder
if I did right,
And it’s
clear now, when she did depart,
She went
to the grave with my heart!
My Bonny
lies under the ocean!
My Bonny
lies under the sea!
My Bonny
lies under the ocean!
I drowned
her when she bothered me!
Oh bring
back, bring back,
Bring
back my bonny to me!
Bring
back, bring back,
Bring
back her body to me!
